Our Activities

We have been engaged in various of activities both in Japan and abroad to promote conservation agriculture that sustainably uses local resources and to improve the lives of local people.
We specialize in four main fields of activity.

1.Agricultural Technology
and Community Development

Over the years, We have pursued the development and dissemination of sustainable agricultural technologies in the field, mainly in arid lands. Based on these experiences, we have developed technologies that can be adapted to local farmers and communities, especially in the field of agriculture and cultivation, and contribute to community development from standpoint of the filed.

2.Resource Management

The key to sustainable community development is to strengthen the organizational capacity and create mechanisms through community participation to ensure that local resources such as forests, water and soil are used and managed appropriately. In order to improve the livelihood of various communities, we are pursuing comprehensive natural and human resource management in line with the perspectives of governance and marketing and so on.

3.Agricultural Extension

Agricultural extension is a comprehensive activity to improve agricultural management by understanding the current situation and challenges of farmers and local people, and by interactively linking them with research institutes, government agencies and private sector's resources that provide agricultural technology and administrative services.
To facilitate the way to "thinking farmers," we work with and grow together with agricultural extension workers.
We also offers various suggestions to improve the extension system for farmers.

4.Human Resources Development

In our overseas operations, we have been engaged in human resource development for agricultural researchers, extension workers, farmers, and local people in the target countries. In Japan, we also conduct technical training courses in agricultural technology for researchers and extension workers in developing countries. Furthermore, we have been working to foster the next generation in Japan through lectures and other activities.
